Welcome to CardPile.ca. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use this site. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, and your continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of any changes.
CardPile.ca is a trade name of KinSam & Co., a registered business in British Columbia, Canada. We specialize in vintage and antique postcards, postal stationery, and related collectibles.
All items listed on CardPile.ca are vintage or antique collectibles sold as-is. We make every effort to accurately describe condition, age, and provenance in our listings. Photographs represent the actual item you will receive. Unless otherwise noted, CardPile.ca is not affiliated with any of the businesses, individuals, or organizations depicted on the items we sell.
Historic items shown on this site may depict views, language, or imagery that reflect the attitudes of their era and may be considered offensive by modern standards. These do not represent the views of CardPile.ca. Items are presented in their original, historical context.
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise indicated. Prices are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to correct any pricing errors. Applicable taxes (GST/HST/PST) will be calculated at checkout based on your shipping destination within Canada. International orders may be subject to customs duties and import taxes in the destination country, which are the buyer's responsibility.
We ship worldwide. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and order size. Most orders ship within 3-5 business days. Delivery times depend on the shipping method selected and the destination. CardPile.ca is not responsible for delays caused by postal services, customs processing, or events beyond our control. Risk of loss passes to the buyer once the item is handed to the carrier.
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may request a return within 14 days of delivery. Items must be returned in the same condition as received. To initiate a return, contact us or use the return request form in your account. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method within 30 days of receiving the returned item. Shipping charges are non-refundable. Any claims for non-receipt, missing items, or shipping damage must be made within 45 days of the order date.
Many of the postcards we sell feature images that are in the public domain and may be used freely. However, determining the copyright status of early postcards can be difficult -- many cards do not list their date of publication or even a publisher's name. Nearly all early publishers are now out of business with records destroyed or missing. If you intend to reproduce an image from a postcard, it is your responsibility to determine its copyright status.
Under Canadian copyright law, photographs taken before January 1, 1949 that are not Crown copyright are generally in the public domain in Canada. For works created after that date, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus 70 years (extended from 50 years in 2022 under CUSMA).
For our American buyers, the following is a simplified guide to US copyright terms as they apply to postcards. This is not legal advice -- consult a copyright attorney if unsure.
For a more detailed guide to US copyright terms for postcards, see the Cornell Copyright Information Center.
The watermark applied to images on this site is for identification and theft-prevention purposes only and does not constitute a claim of copyright. Any existing copyright remains with the original creator or their estate.
If you believe any material on CardPile.ca infringes upon a copyright you own or control, please contact us at info@cardpile.ca with: a description of the copyrighted work, the URL where it appears on our site, a statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized, and your contact information. We will investigate and respond in accordance with the Canadian Copyright Act.
We may be able to provide higher-resolution scans of individual postcards believed to be in the public domain for a nominal fee. Please contact us for availability and pricing.
You may create an account to facilitate purchases, track orders, and manage wishlists. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
