| Notes | St. Andrew's Church is, so far as is known, the oldest existing structure in Western Canada, which is still used as a place of worship. Services were first held in a log building near the present site in 1842. In 1844 construction of the present edifice was commenced, and it was completed in 1849.
The building itself is a witness to the energy and vision of Archdeacon Wm. Cochrane, who organized the congregation, planned the work, and personally participated in the actual labor on construction. |
